A letter to Osteoporosis News in response to the article on the Alexander Technique in the Autumn 2003 edition. Dear Editor, I was pleased to see the article about the Alexander Technique in the last issue. I am 61 and was diagnosed with severe osteoporosis about two years ago. I have at least seven spinal fractures and was in great pain and needed a wheelchair to get out of the house at one stage. Now, thanks to the Alexander Technique, I am upright, walk every day, have better balance and confidence, am virtually pain free and lead a normal, reasonably active, life. I began lessons nearly two years ago and continue to have them on a regular basis because it has helped me so much. I urge fellow sufferers to give it a try. Mrs Norma Allen, Powys |
