Your Teacher
Shelagh Aitken started having Alexander lessons as a music student at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.
Many years later, after a long and painful recovery from shoulder surgery, Shelagh decided to join the three year Alexander
Technique training program at the Constructive Teaching Centre under Walter Carrington.
Along the way, she found that other things changed for the better, along with the shoulders: the Alexander Technique, as
Walter Carrington said, is a technique for living.
Shelagh is a member of the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique.

Each student will have a private lesson daily, as well as group lessons and a workshop devoted to subjects related to the
Alexander Technique. In the evening before dinner, there will be an opportunity to participate in a reading and discussion

Alexander Meditation and Walking
in Italy
with Chris Element and Suzie Sanderson
A journey of ten thousand miles begins with a single step
Lao Tzu
We invite you to explore what it is to take that step.
24th May to May 31st 2008
This course is for anyone from beginners or experienced teachers. Our theme will be the relationship of the Technique to
walking and to meditation in order to benefit us physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. We will experiment with
a variety of ideas for you to learn for your own benefit or to use in your own teaching practice. We will explore how to
take a step and the lunge and how to teach walking to your own students. Teachers will learn how to develop your student’s
awareness in motion. All these ideas are great for runners too.
In a classic Tuscan landscape we will spend a week working and relaxing eating fantastic organic home made italian food.
