Self-care is often more easily talked about than actually practiced. The Alexander Technique is a way of self-care. This
workshop will present the Alexander Technique and its benefits so that people enter in a process of re-claiming a healthier
self. Whether the daily demands are in the home or stress needs to be dealt with in other areas, the Alexander Technique is
a reliable way of meeting those challenges and taking care of the self.
This day is suitable for beginners and people who would like to refresh their appreciation of the Alexander Technique. The
one-day workshop is taking place at the newly opened Fenwick2 in the New Forest offering a pitoresque setting and a
re-vitalising atmosphere. Participants will get to know FM Alexander's philosophy, there will be hands-on-work and a book
table, as well as a video will be shown.

Jill Payne runs regular introductory Saturday workshops in Beckenham,Bromley and Penge SE20.
The workshop demonstrates the benefits of the Technique and introduces the guiding principles involved using explanation,
video, simple guided activites and hands-on Alexander work. It enables you to make an informed decision about whether to
take your interest further.
All participants are offered the chance to try a half-price individual lesson at a later date.
Jill also runs short courses for the Bromley Adult Education College in Bromley and Penge SE20, along with twice-yearly
residential course at the Claridge House Quaker Retreat Centre in Dormandsland, near Lingfield in Surrey.

We will look at situations where using our hands and arms can be challenging or perplexing, particularly using keyboards
and other computer devises. We will look at underlying structure of hands and arms and explore how their unspecialized
nature and purpose can be put to good use.

Alexander Technique weekend

During this weekend we will be covering the following aspects of FM A;exander's’ discoveries: Inhibition, Primary Control
Use affects functioning, Directions, End gaining, Means whereby, Unreliable sensory appreciation, and more.
Students coming on this course can bring their own activity, that is musicians or sports people bringing their musical
instruments, racquets, clubs, etc. We will be looking at performing activities with ‘good use’ from all aspects of life,
such as sitting, standing, climbing stairs, pushing trolleys at supermarkets, carrying objects, driving, etc. etc!
With places limited to 8, to ensure quality tuition, with individual application of The Technique.
Ken Thompson (MSTAT) is an experienced teacher who has been teaching the Technique continuously since 1979.
