About the Society
Teaching members of STAT:
STAT’s further aims are to promote public awareness and understanding of the
Alexander Technique, and to encourage research. The Society publishes a regular
newsletter (STATNews) and The Alexander Journal

STAT holds a national Annual Conference in June.
Professional standards and teacher training
STAT training courses are regulated through a system of external
moderation. There are currently 19 teacher training courses in the UK and three STAT regulated
courses outside the UK.

Much of the content of this section is relevant to STAT teaching members, and less so to members
of the public. However, some documents appear here by legal requirements to make them public,
whilst others appear in the interests of procedural transparency.
